When a knife is sharpened on a whetstone, the effort is not towards softening the whetstone..

When a knife is sharpened on a whetstone,
the effort is not towards softening the whetstone.
It benefits the knife.
So also we have to foster virtues
for our own emancipation.

These virtues are like
the different parts of our body,
the eyelids, teeth, hands, legs. etc.

They all work in harmony
for the fullness of the body system.
So we should have all virtues
in coordination for leading an ideal happy life.
