10 naturally slimming foods...

For a flat stomach: Pineapple
Pineapple is the secret to a flat stomach. This fruit is rich in bromelain, an enzyme which accelerates the absorption of dietary protein (from meat, fish, eggs and dairy products, and also vegetables) by the body.
To benefit from this, eat fresh pineapple as the bromelain is destroyed by heat during preservation. Pineapple also contains insoluble dietary fibre which
aids intestinal transit.

Anti-water retention: Leeks
Leeks contain fructosamines, substances which seem like carbohydrates, but which have properties which prevent water retention. This vegetable is also rich in potassium and poor in sodium, which encourages the secretion and elimination of urine. All this classes the leek among diuretic vegetables.
You should cook the green part preferably, which is rich in fibre and not as sweet as the white part.

Fat burning: Sweet peppers
Peppers help eliminate some sugar and fat before being assimilated by the body. This vegetable contains traces of capsaicin and capsaicinoids, substances with a spicy flavour which can kickstart digestive secretions. On top of all this, peppers are very low in calories (21kcal per 100g) and have diuretic properties.
If you want to get the most out the provitamin A in this vegetable, with its antioxidant action, go for red peppers as these are richer in this nutrient than green peppers.

Anti-cellulite: Green tea
Green tea is your body’s best friend when it comes to fighting cellulite. It is rich in antioxidants, which means it has the power to preserve the cells’ tonicity and in this way prevent cellulite forming.
Green tea also encourages the body not to store up fat, eliminating fats accumulated in fat cells instead. Furthermore, it limits the absorption of fats and carbohydrates in the first place, so get topping up that teacup!

Anti-bloating: Apples
Apples’ richness in pectin, a dietary fibre, encourages the elimination of food residue and stimulates the activity of the digestive tract. A medium-sized apple contains 3-4g of dietary fibre in its skin.
To get the most out of this fibre, eat whole apples and don’t cook them. This fruit is also a great snack when you are hungry and it’s really low in calories (54kcal per 100g), so get chomping!

Super slimming: Tofu
Made from curdled soya milk, tofu is a really filling food because of its richness in vegetable protein (11g per 100g). On top of this, it is also low in fat and contains 120kcal per 100g.
But when it comes to fats, tofu contains unsaturated fats, good fats including omega 3 especially. This is a brilliant naturally slimming food to add to your weekly menus.

Anti-water retention: Cherries
Cherries help the elimination of urine and also digestive transit in general. Don’t go crazy though as this fruit is relatively calorific (68kcal per 100g).
For a maximum detox drink teas made from cherry stalks: this part of the fruit also has a diuretic property through its richness in flavonoids and potassium salts.

Fat burning: Cinnamon
Recent scientific studies have shown that cinnamon helps to reduce blood sugar levels, which in turn prevents the body from storing sugar as fat. Furthermore, this spice gives food a great flavour so there is no need to add sugar or fattening foods.
Use it to flavour your yoghurts or fromage frais, and think about adding it to dishes in meals, on baked apples for example.

Anti-cellulite: Onions
Onions combat cellulite by eliminating water and toxins. It’s diuretic action is probably due to its richness in fructosamines, present in the onion bulb, and its increased potassium/sodium ratio. Onion also regulates the absorption of sugar and activates the elimination of fats.
You should cook onions rather than eating them raw as they will be easier to digest this way.

Super slimming: Seaweed
King of all slimming foods, seaweed is low in calories, really filling and good for digestive transit.
The best known food products include agar-agar, a jelly made from seaweed which acts like gelatine, wakami seaweed which you can eat in salads or in soups, konbu which is used dried in broths, nori which is what is used to wrap sushi...
